Sex trafficking victims get a voice

Posted: Updated:
Sex traffic survivors are speaking out Tuesday night at 7:00 pm at the Maumee Indoor Theatre.  It's part of a free program to raise awareness and educate parents, teachers and kids about the dangers of the sex trade.   The program tonight is "A Night of Freedom," and the event is free.

One of the survivors of the sex traffic trade is Leeann, she started prostitution at the age of 8, recruited by her mothers boyfriend, and didn't escape the vicious cycle until she was 31.  By then, she was the mother of 5 and addicted to drugs and alcohol.  Leeann says, educating people in schools and churchs will help immensely. "If people know the signs to look for, you never know when they might be the one person, to help a victim of the sex traffic trade", says Leeann.   The video project is being produced by retired minister Steve Feazel, from the Columbus area.  Feazel says he's already received financial support from corporations around Ohio.  The goal is to raise 200-thousand dollars to fund the project, so it can be distributed free of charge to over 5-thousand schools in the state, and made available to anyone who wants a copy at cost.  The preview video is available for viewing at www.shadowontheheartland.com.  "We will not be making a profit on these DVD's, says Finzel, we just want to protect our kids.
