Lourdes University head men’s basketball coach Andre’ Smith has announced that Levert Bristol and Julian Johnson both plan to transfer to the school from Wilberforce University and will play for the Gray Wolves during the 2014-2015 season.
Bristol, a 6-4 wing, is originally from Tallahassee, Fla. before playing high school basketball at Northview High School in Alabama. He averaged 9.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game over the past two seasons at Wilberforce, shooting 47.8% from the floor. He scored a career-high 20 points for the Bulldogs on Feb. 5, 2013 against Indiana-Kokomo.
“Levert can hit the 12-foot jumper and his inside presence will be counted on for some tough defense and rebounding,” Smith stated. “He will also be looked upon for some much need inside scoring.”
Bristol will have one year of eligibility remaining after playing his freshman season at Chattahoochee Valley Community College.
Johnson, a 6-1 guard from Columbus, Ohio, has two years of eligibility remaining. A product of Horizon High School, he scored 3.5 points, averaged 1.7 rebounds, and handed out 1.6 assists as a sophomore at Wilberforce last season. Johnson tallied a season-high 11 points against Miami-Hamilton on Feb. 1, 2014.
“Julian is an athletic guard that will add speed and depth to the guard position,” commented Smith. “He has the ability to push the ball up the court and excels in the open court. Julian will be counted on for his quickness and tough, defensive attitude pressuring the ball. He comes from a rich tradition of basketball in Columbus, Ohio area.”
Johnson played his freshman season at Alderson-Broaddus University.
