Ebay users advised to change passwords after cyber-attach

Posted: Updated:
EBay Inc., the online-auction site, asked users to change their passwords after a cyber-attack exposed a database with the login information and other data such as birthdays and phone numbers.

There's no evidence of unauthorized activity resulting from the breach, EBay said today in a statement. They company said that credit-card numbers are stored separately and encrypted, they still advised changing your password.

Apparently cyber-attackers got into EBay's corporate network by getting access to a small number of employee passwords.

The company says it is working with police and security experts to investigate the breach. They believe it happened between late February and early March. EBay said it first learned about two weeks ago that the employee login credentials had been compromised.
