Health experts say its time to say goodbye to medium and rare burgers

Posted: Updated:
The recent cases of E. coli caused by tainted ground beef has experts saying it's time say goodbye to medium and rare burgers.

It's one thing to eat eat steaks rare, because the bacteria is on the outside of the meat and the heat of the pan take care of them. But with ground meet the bacteria is distributed all throughout the hamburger.

Many restaurants carry a disclaimer on the menu advising customers of the dangers of eating rare or medium beef.

Attorney Drew Masse says, "They're saying this food carries a risk of you getting ill, even if we handle it properly."

So, if you're eating a rare burger, you're dining at your own risk.
