Boaters rescue man from Maumee River

Posted: Updated:
Fellow boaters rescued a man after his canoe capsized in the Maumee River Monday morning.

According to the Toledo Fire Department, the man fell out of his canoe and in to the river around 11:30am behind the Owens Corning headquarters in downtown Toledo.

Water rescue crews responded to the scene, but fellow boaters were able to pull the man from the water.  He did not require medical attention.

Toledo Fire Department spokesman, Lt. Matthew Hertzfeld reminds boaters to wear a Coast Guard approved flotation device.  Hertzfeld says the water is still very cold and that could affect people who find themselves in the river.
