Kim Bingley finished day two up of the NCAA DIII National Outdoor Championships. Three more events on Friday finalized the heptathlon competition.
Bingley (Ottawa, Ohio / Ottawa-Glandorf) fell from 19th to 22nd in the competition. The three final events were the long jump, javelin throw, and the 800-meter run.
She started out the day with a 17th place finish in the long jump. Her distance was 4.89 meters. The jump was good enough for 530 points.
Next up came the javelin throw. She finished in 10th place, which was her best finish on the day and second best in the heptathlon. She threw 33.35 meters for 540 points.
The last event proved to be a tough break for Bingley. In the 800-meter dash, she looked very strong the first lap around the track. During the second lap, Bingley got tripped up in the crowd of runners and did not have enough time to make back up the distance. She received 235 points for the event.
Bingley’s two day total for the heptathlon brought 3,928 points. It was good enough for the 22nd best score in the nation.
With the completion of the heptathlon, Bingley completed her outdoor track and field collegiate career. Her career included three trips to the DIII Nationals in the past three years.
