Attempted burglary at Toledo home caught on tape

Posted: Updated:
An attempted burglary at a Toledo home is caught on tape. The suspects had no idea they were on camera.

Police say photos don't lie! The concerned homeowner hopes you can identify the men.

We can't show the homeowners face because he says he's scared for his life. His security cameras caught two men who attempted to break into his rental property. You can see the men walking in the driveway around the home. One suspect walks up onto the back porch and unscrews the motion light. It appears the other suspect is the lookout guy. It happened Tuesday near Dorr and Warwick.

"I know times are hard but I work hard seven days a week as well as my tenant. Its just said that you work so hard to get certain things and you have guys that don't want to go to work and this is their job to break into peoples homes," said the homeowner.

Take a good look at the suspects. They appear to be two black males. This one has a tattoo on his arm. The homeowner filed this police report with Toledo Police. Officers say they see an uptick in burglaries during the summer. In 2012, Toledo recorded 6,729 burglaries. Last year that number dropped to 5,357. So far this year detectives have investigated 553. Police say the pictures will likely help them find the suspect.

"Cameras that are visible both inside and outside of you house are not only a great deterrent but can be great evidence for us," said Sgt. Joe Heffernan.

The suspects never got into the rental property because the ADT alarm went off and within minutes police arrived

"Now a days its dangerous we have a security camera and an ADT alarm," said the homeowner.

If you recognize him, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 419-255-1111.
