Motorcyclist seriously injured after driver fails to yield at intersection

Posted: Updated:
A motorcyclist was seriously injured after a car failed to yield at an intersection in Monroe County Saturday morning.

It happened around 11 a.m. Police say Dakota Tehotsirate-Piscopink Frazier, 21, of Monroe was driving a 1988 Corvette southbound on N. Dixie Highway. When he made a left turn onto eastbound Monrona Drive, he failed to yield to a 2002 BMW motorcycle operated by Lynn R. Skeans, 69, of Taylor.

Mr. Skeans was thrown from his motorcycle into a speed limit post on the northeast corner of the intersection.  Skeans, who was wearing a helmet, suffered serious injuries and was transported to Mercy Memorial hospital in Monroe and later taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent's Medical Center in Toledo.

Mr. Frazier and his teenage passenger were not injured in the crash. Speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash, but authorities say that alcohol may have been involved.

The crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the
crash is asked to call Deputy Tim George at 734-240-7768.
