City: hold on, we'll get to overgrown parks and property soon, need public's help

Posted: Updated:
The City of Toledo admits it is a little behind in cutting the grass in some parks and on some city property.

A spokesperson says the rainy may weather has encouraged a lot of grass growth and despite the challenges posed by cuts to the budget of the Division of Parks, Forestry & recreation, getting that grass cut is a top-priority.

According to an official statement, "The City’s complement of seasonal workers are out cutting the grass at our parks, on our boulevards and our triangles as well as other areas that the City is responsible for cutting."

Mayor D. Michael Collins thanked those who have asked about the Adopt-A-Park program and those who were voluntarily cutting the grass on boulevards and triangles and said,
“If your neighborhood group or business is interested in adopting a park, a boulevard, or a triangle; your volunteer efforts are important.  When we join together the value added to our community is immeasurable.”

You can learn more about adopting a boulevard or park by calling 419-245-3357.  If you have a complaint about grass growing more than 8 inches high on a residential property you can call 419-936-2020
