Wounded warriors take on Tiger vets to help kids

Posted: Updated:
The motto of the Wounded Warriors Amputee Softball Team is "Life without a limb is limitless." They made that clear as they played a triple-header to raise money to help kids at Ned Skeldon Stadium in Maumee.

The team is make up of veteran and active-duty military personnel who have lost limbs while serving their country. In their first match of the day on Saturday, they took on metro police and firefighters. They followed that by taking on a team from Pacesetter Property/Allshred.

All the money raised will help send kids with prosthetic limbs to the Wounded Warriors Kids Camp where they'll learn how to play softball.

Saturday's final game started at 7 and features the warriors taking on local celebrities and retired Detroit Tigers players including Denny McLain, Lance Parrish & Al Kaline.

Admission was free, but donations are encouraged.
