2 Fremont Police cars in overnight crash

Posted: Updated:
The Fremont Police Department initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Sycamore and Wilson, which resulted in a high speed pursuit traveling both in the city and county.

The two squad cars pictured were in route to assist with the pursuit, which was canceled after the crash.

The picture you see was sent to 13abc from viewer Dion Massie.

It shows front-end damage to one squad car, and damage to the side of another.

Troopers confirm this happened at the intersection of Hickory and Wilson overnight.

Both officers were transported to hospitals for treatment for serious injuries suffered in the crash.

At this time, one officer remains in the hospital with no official condition listed.  Names are not being released at this time.

The vehicle that was being chased was found unoccupied in the 800 block of White Avenue by officers.  The vehicle was towed and police are waiting to speak with the owner.

The Fremont Fire Department, Sandusky County EMS, Sandusky County Sheriff's department, and Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to assist in the crash.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the crash and the Fremont Police department is investigating the pursuit for adherence to policy.
