Incoming Ohio State wrestling freshman Kyle Snyder had an impressive performance at the 2014 FILA Junior World Team Trials this past weekend. Snyder, a native of Olney, Maryland, swept Nathan Rotert 2-0 in the freestyle final at Alliant Energy Center in Madison, Wis.

Wrestling at 96kg/211.5 pounds, Snyder recorded a 13-2 technical fall over Rotert before securing his spot at the FILA Junior World championships Aug. 5-10 in Zagreb, Croatia, with a 5-0 decision. Snyder will seek his second-consecutive junior world title.

Buckeye alum J.D. Bergman earned a place on the U.S. National Team following his 13-4 victory over Devon Winn in the 97kg/213-pound true third-place match. Earlier in the tournament, Bergman posted a 10-2 win against Wynn Michalak in the challenge tournament to set up the deciding third-place bout vs. Winn.

The 2014 World Championships will take place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Sept. 8-14.

Buckeye redshirt-freshman Nathan Tomasello dropped 8-4 and 3-2 decisions to Thomas Gilman in the 55kg/121-pound freestyle final of the junior tournament.
