Local dealer one of the first to sell Alfa Romeos

Posted: Updated:
A local dealership will be one of the first in North America to sell a European vehicle with ties to Chrysler. The Yark Automotive Group is one of 86 dealers in the US and Canada that will sell Alfa Romeos. They're expecting the first model to arrive in late summer or early fall.

To begin with dealers will only sell one model but there should be a full line up of Alfa models on American lots in the next few years. Right now Yark Fiat is of course full of Fiats but Yark Automotive Group President John Yark says in a matter of months they'll add the Alfa Romeo 4C to the showroom, "It is a small, 2 seat, high performance vehicle that is lightweight and turbo charged. It should be a lot of fun to drive!"

While the company will only sell one model here in America to begin with, Yark says Alfa is gearing up to add other models, "The next vehicle will be arriving sometime in late 2016 and it will be a sedan. The eventual plan for Alfa Romeo is to have a full product line available in North America." So just how much will the new 4C set you back?, "The pricing, with only about 700 vehicles vehicles coming to North America to start with, will be about $54,000."

Alfa Romeo is one of the brands owned by Fiat. Fiat also owns Chrysler,"The marriage of Fiat and Chrysler gave Chrysler the smaller car technologies and the high mileage drive train they were truly lacking."

The new vehicle will mean an expansion to the Yark Fiat building and based on sales it could mean new jobs too, "As we sell more and more cars we will need more people. Yark Automotive Group is employing more people now than it ever has in its history with over 360 employees."

Once again, there are only 86 Alfa Romeo franchises being awarded in the US and Canada. A total of five Michigan dealers will be selling the vehicles and four dealers in Ohio. Only Texas, California and Florida will have more Alfa dealerships.
