Extra firefighting planned for Ohio air show

Posted: Updated:

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - There will be more firefighting equipment at this weekend's Dayton air show, a year after a pilot and wing-walker died in a fiery crash.

The Dayton Daily News (http://bit.ly/1nxc44r ) reports that a third fire truck will be added to two smaller trucks traditionally stationed at the annual show.

Bruce Bales, fire rescue chief at Dayton International Airport, said it's meant to ease performers' concerns, after questions were raised about emergency response times at a fatal crash and fire that killed a stunt pilot May 4 at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California.

Wright-Patterson Air Force Base will have six firefighters there with a fire truck and crash rescue truck because the Navy's Blue Angels are performing.

Federal safety investigators haven't released a final report on last year's Dayton crash.
