Timing the weekend rain out

Posted: Updated:
Rain is slowly moving towards our area today, taking a northeast track out from Indianapolis. It’s just behind what we call a warm front, so it will mostly come down in the way of spotty, light showers. This is not the deluge we had at times early this week.

Here’s our favored timing. In the southwest corner, by Ottawa and Paulding, you’ll deal with the occasional passing showers late this morning. Most of the rest of the rain will hold off, though, making its way north toward the Ohio-Indiana border through mid-afternoon. It looks like 3:00-6:00 p.m. for rain’s arrival into the heart of our region. Still, not everyone will see this rain. They’re completely spotty showers in this setup.

Some areas could see a quarter of an inch, if rain happens to strike multiple times in your backyard. A lot of this will fade tonight before the brunt of the system comes tomorrow. The chance Sunday is much better and some areas could tack on an extra quarter to half an inch.

There’s a shot of rain on Monday, as well. That’s also the week’s best chance of rain, mostly for the threat of damaging winds.
