Interfaith Blood Drive hopes to beat summer blood shortage

Posted: Updated:

Summertime can mean an increased demand for blood, but also a dip in donors because people are traveling or involved in other activities and just don't think about taking time to donate blood.

The American Red Cross hosted an interfaith blood drive this weekend to help make up the difference.

Chairperson of the drive, Devorah Shulamit said it was about more than just collecting blood donations. "We unite in peace. We strive to help foster positive communication and break down prejudices...unifying with compassion to save lives.

The group also hosted a celebration of life at Unity Church of Toledo to cap off the weekend. The event featured reading, singing, dancing and food.
