Freedom Celebration offers good, clean fun for families

Posted: Updated:
The Church On Strayer celebrated America's freedom the same way it has for the past thirty years, with a big party that had plenty to do for the whole family.

The event was held Sunday at the church campus in Maumee and included live performances from Dat Phella, Rodney Parker and Liberty Beach, Altars of Athens and L.E.D,  along with attractions like helicopter rides and a zip line.

There were also rides, inflatables and a rock wall for the kids and a 1K run just for them. Adults could participate in a 5K run or walk.  There was also plenty to eat from local food vendors.

The evening was topped off with a fireworks show at dusk.

Church administrator Melony Bradley said the idea behind the celebration is to offer something for the whole family.  "We like to invite our neighbors and the people around the Toledo area just to come out have a good time it's a family environment there's no alcohol no smoking we just feel like it's a great place to bring your family."

Admission is free, but there was a fee for the zipline and helicopter rides.
