2 teens rescued from Lake Erie near Kelleys Island

Posted: Updated:
Two teens have been rescued from the waters of Lake Erie.

The teens were spotted in the water near Kelleys Island Wednesday afternoon.

The Coast Guard says the teens said they were aboard a rented canoe when it began taking on water.

They were able to tread water for about 45 minutes.

A boater tried but failed to get the two into his vessel, so he gave them each life jackets instead.

The Coast Guard pulled them out of the water shortly later.

Both teens were treated and released.
