TPD: no evidence shootings are related

Posted: Updated:

It's been a violent holiday weekend in Toledo with three shootings and one death in 12 hours from Saturday to Sunday.

The first shooting happened Saturday night around 11 p.m. on Vance Street. Police arrived to find Robert Harris with a gunshot wound. He was rushed to Mercy St. V's where he later died. No suspects have been named in that shooting.

Then just 12 hours later, TPD got another call for a shooting on Fernwood near Wells Street. Investigators say two people driving a car opened fire, hitting a man in the groin. Not long after, another person retaliated for that shooting, sending one of the shooters to the hospital. Officers spent the afternoon looking for shell casings near Lawrence and Door Street.

Toledoan Aubrey Bufkin was disappointed to hear of another shooting in Toledo. "I wish it would stop. Today was a senseless act of violence that doesn't need to take place."

Although these shootings happened only nine blocks apart, investigators say there is no evidence that they are connected. If you have any information, call Crime Stopper at 419-255-1111.
