Japan typhoon means cool weather at home.

Posted: Updated:
Toledo, OH - Another huge July cool snap is expected early next week. Highs on Tuesday may not reach the 70s and there is a chance low temperatures could fall to the upper 40s. The next blast of chilly weather can be blamed indirectly on tropical storm Neoguri. Previously the storm was a super typhoon and the strongest so far this year in the western Pacific. First the typhoon hit Japan, but that is having a ripple effect across the globe. The typhoon is now leading to a strong upper level trough in that area. The strong trough is leading to an amplified weather pattern across the Pacific and North America. A powerful ridge will build into eastern Alaska and the entire western part of the country leading to hot weather. As a result, a strong trough will develop across the eastern 2/3rds of the country. This will push unseasonably cold air from Canada into the Midwest. It is possible highs on Tuesday will fall short of 70°. The last time that happened on July 15th was in 1992 when the high only reached 67°. The coldest high temperature ever recorded for July 15th was back in 1945 when the mercury only reached 62°. If Wednesday stays below 70° we will set a new record for the coldest high temperature on record for that date.
