“Bands of America Championships are programs supporting our mission to create, provide, and expand positively life-changing experiences through music for all,” according to Eric L. Martin, President and CEO of Music for All. “Active experiences in music and the arts are integral to providing students with a well-rounded education. The performances of students at this Bands of America championship showcase the results that come from the dedication and teamwork necessary for the achievement of excellence, on the performance field and in life beyond. Bands of America events advocate for maintaining and growing our national commitment to music and arts education, with the student performers making the case in the most visible, artistic, and entertaining way possible, – something each and every American should witness and experience.”

5th Annual Jim Vassar Memorial Golf Tournament

Event Dates and Times

9/23/2017 - Starts: 12:00 PM
Spuyten Duyval Golf Club
The many friends of Jim Vassar wish to remember him by organizing an event in the game he loved. Golf was Jim's first experience with a non-contact sport and it took a while for him to adjust to the collegiality and gentlemanly nature of the game. As always, he prevailed and grew to enjoy the pursuit of par. So, what better way to recall his good nature, sportsmanship and love of the outdoors than to tee it up over some cold brews in his memory.

To date our event has raised over $71,000 for three charities dear to Jim, the American Brain Tumor Association, Toledo Rotary Foundation and ProMedica Total Rehab

The Book of Mormon

Event Dates and Times

9/19/2017 - 9/24/2017
The Stranahan Theater: 4645 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614
This outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries, sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. Now with standing room only productions in London, on Broadway, and across North America, THE BOOK OF MORMON has truly become an international sensation. Contains explicit language. THE BOOK OF MORMON follows two young missionaries who are sent to Uganda to try to convert citizens to the Mormon religion. One missionary, Elder Price, is an enthusiastic go-getter with a strong dedication to his faith, while his partner, Elder Cunningham, is a socially awkward but well meaning nerd whose tendency to embellish the truth soon lands him in trouble. Upon their arrival in Africa, Elders Price and Cunningham learn that in a society plagued by AIDS, poverty and violence, a successful mission may not be as easy as they expected. The New York Times calls it “the best musical of this century.” The Washington Post says, “It is the kind of evening that restores your faith in musicals.” And Entertainment Weekly says, “Grade A: the funniest musical of all time.” Jimmy Fallon of The Tonight Show calls it “Genius. Brilliant. Phenomenal.” It’s The Book of Mormon, the nine-time Tony Award®-winning Best Musical.
