UT football coach Candle tests positive for COVID-19

Candle will self-isolate at home for 10 days

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - University of Toledo football coach Jason Candle has testing positive for COVID-19 and will self-isolate for the next 10 days, according to the UT Athletic Department.

According to a press release, Candle was exposed by an individual outside the athletic department who also tested positive for the coronavirus.

Candle is not experiencing any symptoms. He will be self-isolating at home in accordance with current CDC guidelines and will return to work once the isolation guidelines are met.

UT will work with the Toledo-Lucas County Health Department to determine if any further steps are required.

In a statement released on social media, Candle reiterated he had not experienced any symptoms of COVID-19 and looks “forward to returning to the team after meeting safety guidelines.”
