Security officer shoots man at Vistula Manor

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A security guard at Vistula Manor shot a man Wednesday night after an altercation at the apartments on Cherry St. in Toledo.

According to Toledo Police, they responded to the 700 block of N. Erie and found James Sawyers, 30, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by Toledo Fire to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Matthew Burwell, a security officer at Vistula Manor, told police he shot Sawyers as a result of an altercation. He was detained pending further investigation.

Police continue to investigate the shooting.
