Fremont Ross’s Ethan Green a giant on the mat and gridiron
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - A multi-sport athlete, junior Ethan Green, didn’t realize his full potential until he arrived at Fremont Ross.
“Before high school, I was just playing for the fun of it,” Green said. “Everyone told me that I could be something ... I didn’t really take it serious. Once we got into high school our freshman year I realized that I could actually make something of it.”
“Right off the rip, I thought he was a pretty special athlete,” said Head Coach Matthew Guhn. “As a high-intensity coach, I wanted to continue to push him and see what he could do on the mat. Fortunately, his junior year is going pretty well so far.”
Green ranks No. 1 in his 285-pound weight class in the state of Ohio with a 26-0 record on the season. The junior’s talents go beyond the mat as Green is gaining national attention for his football skills.
“It means the world. I know that if I didn’t get these scholarships it would hang in the air if I would go to college or not,” Green said. “Those scholarships are huge and now that that has become a reality it’s definitely everything I’ve ever wanted.”
