TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - High School exchange programs have really suffered because of the pandemic.

One program had to send international students home before borders closed last year.

Some exchange students were stuck until the State Department could send private planes to get them home.

Covid conditions are better now and the American Cultural Exchange Service (ACES) is looking for host families.

Valerie Virag is the Regional Director. She says she needs Northwest Ohio families to host 40 international students by August.

These students will attend Oregon, Sylvania and TPS schools. She says, “It’s been such a rewarding experience, I’ve learned so much about the world, and the world learns about us, who the true Americans are, its such an important program, it has to restart and we need great families.
