TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - Some employees at the GM Toledo Transmission plant are facing temporary layoffs later in June.

According to a letter sent to employees from plant executive director Eric Gonzales, all 8-speed RWD Operations employees on first and second shift will be placed on temporary layoff, effective the week of June 28. Some employees will be excepted from the layoff, which will be communicated individually to the employees.

The following week will continue to be the plant vacation shutdown.

Those employees have an expected return-to-work date of July 12, but the letter said that date is subject to change.

In the letter, Gonzales said the layoffs are due to, “ongoing semiconductor shortages impacting our assembly plant customers.”
