TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - We’ve got some good clean fun for you in this Hittin’ the Town. Buff City Soap features handmade products that are created in each store.

Buff City Soap has been a part of the local landscape for the last few years. The experience is about more than buying things; it’s about creating them, too.

There is a lot to see and smell. Michael Welyczko is a Regional Training and Development Manager for Buff City.

“We encourage everyone to come in and smell and find their favorite fragrance,” Welyczko said. “We offer customization in almost every product category.”

Jerrod Riggleman is the Manager of the Secor Road store.

“We actually hand make all of our own products in house every day,” Riggleman said. “Everything is plant-based, so there are no harsh chemicals, just natural ingredients.”

Michael says the list of ingredients in the products here is limited by design.

“We keep it simple. Our sugar scrub is two ingredients, sugar and olive oil. Our body butter is shea and olive oil.”

Jerrod says there are all kinds of product options.

“We are definitely known for our bar soap it is our go-to product. Our other top seller would be our laundry. We hand make. You can get bath bombs, shower oils, body butters and scrubs. So really anything in the body care world we offer.”

Along with all the beautiful colors the products come in, Michael says there are also some colorful names.

“We have a sense of humor. We have a bar soap called Wash That Ash, it’s made with activated charcoal. It’s one of our best sellers. We like to have fun with names.”

Jerrod says you can also get in on the fun by trying your hand at the art of soap making at a bath bomb party.

“You get to choose your favorite fragrances colors and you get to mold them. You can play music and bring food and drinks with you.”

Michael says local is a big focus in all the stores.

“Every store has a local line that is very specific to them. You can only find the products at the store and it changes monthly.”

When it comes to all the scents in the store, Michael says there’s a way to clear the air.

“We keep coffee beans throughout the store so everybody can clear their palettes when smelling the different fragrances.”

There’s plenty of good clean fun at Buff City Soap.

The stores are open seven days a week from 10-7. Bath bomb parties are by appointment on Saturdays and Sundays.
