A federal judge sentenced two former University of Toledo basketball players to probation Tuesday for their role in a point shaving scam going back about a decade.

Anton Currie received a 2 year probation sentence and 50 hours community service. He pleaded guilty to bribery in sporting contests.

Prosecutors say he received up to $2000 in cash and groceries from a Detroit gambler during the 2005-2006 season.

Earlier Tuesday, the judge sentenced former basketball player Sammy Villegas to 3 years of probation after he pleaded guilty to conspiracy to influence sports contests by bribery.

Tuesday's sentencing comes nearly 7 years since the charges were originally filed.

The judge also sentenced Villegas to 100 hours of community service and ordered him to pay a $5000 fine.

Several other football and basketball players also await sentencing for the scandal.
