An 18-year-old is in jail after allegedly leading sheriff's deputies on a high speed chase.

According to the Defiance County Sheriff's office, around 12:43 am on Saturday, February 17, deputies noticed a car speeding down US 127 just south of Sherwood.

The driver, Damien Bell, 18, led police on a pursuit down Jericho road, reaching speeds faster than 100 mph. Deputies called for backup and continued following the driver into Hicksville. Units setup on Jericho and SR 49 in an attempt to stop the driver.

The driver slowed down and he was arrested for failure to comply. His passenger, Dean Bustos, 20, was charged with drug possession. Bell is locked up in the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
