SWANTON, Ohio (13abc Action News) - Approximately 250 members of the 180th Fighter Wing in Swanton were deployed to Europe as part of NATO training.
A dozen F-16 Fighting Falcons from the base are part of the mission to Amari Air Base in Estonia.
"The U.S. Air Force routinely deploys aircraft and personnel to Europe" according to a news release from the Ohio National Guard.
The Ohio Air National Guard unit will train with NATO allies and regional partners "in an effort to strengthen interoperability and demonstrate the U.S. commitment to the security and stability of Europe".
13abc was told the deployment is expected to continue for approximately three months and began last week.
