(WTVG) - After Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine ordered all fitness centers to close last week during the coronavirus outbreak, people had to find other options to stay fit.
One local karate instructor found a way to stay connected with her students. Amanda Kaufman, a fourth-degree black belt, has taught a karate class at the Fort Meigs YMCA since 2005.
But just like all fitness centers in the state of Ohio, it closed down because of COVID-19. So Kaufman decided to take her class into the virtual world using Zoom, an online video conferencing service.
"I think we're igniting the students who may have thought they lost something they love to do every week," Kaufman said, "so I'm excited to provide that for them, keeping them physically fit, mentally fit when they might be experiencing some cabin fever."
