Back to school sleep changes wake up parents

Area kids are headed back to the classroom over the next two weeks. Most parents will admit that the toughest part about getting kids back to school is often the change in their sleep pattern. It's tough to trade in 10am wake up times with 6am wake up calls.

Sleep specialists say it's best to approach the change at the morning wake up time. Trying to get them to go to sleep earlier generally doesn't work. So start by waking them up at the designated school wake up time at least one week before they have to catch the early bus. It will still take a couple weeks for everybody to adjust, but at least you can get a running start.
