SWANTON, Ohio (WTVG) -- A "bird strike" may have caused an accident involving an F-16 assigned to the 180th Fighter Wing.

Springfield Township Firefighters say they were contacted by the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority to assist a jet after a "bird strike."

Bird strikes occur when birds are hit by the engines of a plane. A most notable accident was the "Miracle On The Hudson."

Routine training drills were scheduled for the Air National Guard base this weekend. So far there are no official updates from the base leadership.
