Burkett indicted for vehicular assault

TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - The former business commissioner for Toledo has been indicted for aggravated vehicular assault and vehicular assault.

Police say Bill Burkett struck and severely injured a St. John's Jesuit student, Noah Tolson, in May.

He was initially charged with OVI.

But that charge was dismissed in Maumee Municipal Court on Wednesday.

The OVI charge isn't included in today's indictment.
