Wood County prosecutors have dropped felony theft charges against the CEO of a prominent local charity. This comes as prosecutors say an “expanded investigation" has developed.

Linda Greene of Impact with Hope out of Waterville had already pleaded not guilty in Wood County court to the charges stemming from accusations that she stole thousands of dollars that were donated to help tutor children.

Greene faced felony theft charges which were dropped by prosecutors on February 19th.

According to an affidavit filed by Wood County prosecutors: “An expanded investigation has developed in which the Defendant is a person of interest.”

That affidavit say search warrants have been executed on property in which the Defendant has interest or control. The filing says investigators must go through lots of evidence gathered in those searches.

Prosecutors say they are dismissing these current charges to allow a detailed investigation and to avoid a “piecemeal” prosecution.
