TOLEDO (WTVG) - The story of Toledo's Christmas Weed is far from done, it's just in a different format. Local bestselling children's book authors have immortalized the short-lived holiday attraction in print with their newest book for kids "The Christmas Weed".

"We have nearly 30 books in our collection ... but this is by far the most exciting one yet," says co-author, Nick Rokicki. "We love Christmas, books, and learning, so this story was the perfect way to combine all three. Kids get excited about reading when they make a local connection and the lessons in this book are vital for emotional learning."

"When I think of Christmas, I think about charity, giving, family, and magic. With The Christmas Weed," says co-author Joe Kelley, "we've taken out familiar cupcake characters and are retelling the true story of Toledo's Christmas Weed, with so many learning opportunities woven in. Children will walk away from this book excited about the Christmas season -- and not just for the gifts, but to become involved in their community as well.

The book is available to pre-order on their website for a discounted prices of $10 and will ship in early November. And for the first time ever, the duo is releasing a complete video reading of the book online to teach people about Toledo and the community that made the Christmas Weed famous.
