TOLEDO, Ohio (13abc Action News) - The City of Toledo is gearing up for potential heavy rains over the weekend.
Toledo's Department of Public Utilities is implementing its heavy rain event protocols due to the possibility of more than an inch of rain on Saturday.
The city says it expects the heaviest periods of rain between noon and 5:00 p.m. There is potential for street and basement flooding.
City leaders ask residents to check storm water drains along their street and keep them free from leaves and other debris. People living on curbed streets are also asked to leave a one-foot clearance path next to the curb to allow for water to reach the storm drains.
Toledo's Division of Sewer and Drainage Services has portable pumps ready for use as needed.
Leaders say crews will be positioned across the city to monitor how water is flowing through the collection system and will be ready to respond to customer requests.
