Hundreds of volunteers came together at the end of September to clean up trash and other debris from Toledo area waterways.
According to organizers, 932 volunteers cleaned up areas at 70 different sites throughout Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. The volunteers pulled 18,395 pounds of debris from just over 33 miles of water during the campaign.
In addition to some more expected items, the event also unearthed some interesting pieces. On top of 124 tires, volunteers discovered some peculiar things, including a grill, a Jeep Power Wheel, a graduation photo, a coconut, a map of Oregon, and a Message in a Bottle.
