The body of the missing boater on Lake Erie was recovered by the Toledo Fire and Rescue Dive team on Monday.

He has been identified as Burl E. Steele, 47, of Maumee.

The Coast Guard received a call for a man who went overboard on a boat around 7:30 Saturday not far from Lost Peninsula, Michigan in the Maumee Bay.

Members from Coast Guard Station Toledo searched the water by boat while crews from Coast Guard Station Detroit searched from the air.

Other people were on the boat that the man fell off, but they are safe, according to a Coast Guard representative.

The Coast Guard ended its search Sunday. Monroe County resumed the search Monday. Steele's body was found 500 yards north of where he fell in.
