PERRYSBURG (WTVG) - New information about a heartbreaking fire in Wood County earlier this week. An investigator from the State Fire Marshal's Office has been to the scene of the blaze that killed a number of animals at a Middleton Township horse farm. That's according to Perrysburg Fire Chief Rudy Ruiz.
Four horses, a donkey, chickens and guinea hens died after the fast-moving fire broke out at Fantasy Acres on Roachton Road Tuesday afternoon. 11 horses were outside at the time and they all survived. They were moved to another farm that night.
According to the Perrysburg Fire Chief, the investigator has been unable to pinpoint the cause. As of right now it's being ruled undetermined.
Beth Turner grew up riding at the farm. She says it is a place that has provided a lot of happiness in the community for many years.
She wanted to find a way to help the people and the farm she loves. Turner set up a GoFundMe to help owner Pam Addy and her family care for the surviving animals, and rebuild the farm.
There are also plans to set up an account for the Addy family at Farmers and Merchants State Bank in the next few days.
