Detroit Tigers switch to mobile only ticketing

DETROIT, Mich. (WTVG) - Those hoping to attend a Detroit Tigers game in the coming season will be facing some big changes at the box office. Comercia Park is switching over to mobile only ticketing for all of their events.

In order to access tickets you will need two things: an MLB.com account, and the Ballpark app, which is available for both Android and iPhone users. With the app, you will be able to access all of your tickets using your phone, scan into the ballpark at game time, and even transfer and/or sell tickets you aren't going to use.

According to the Tigers' MLB website, mobile ticketing is "the safest, most convenient and flexible way to receive and manage your tickets while increasing protection against fraud."

For those without access to a smart phone or other smart device, the team says don't worry. They will still accept printed tickets at Comercia Park but you'll have to pick them up at the box office on game day.
