Earned income tax issue for Benton-Carroll-Salem School District fails

OAK Harbor (WTVG) - The Benton-Carroll-Salem School district had a 1% earned income tax issue on the November ballot. The issue failed by several hundred votes Tuesday night.

The district is facing a major budget shortfall created in large part by the de-valuation of the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station.

District leaders say they will put another tax on the ballot at some point. It is not clear right now if that would be another income tax or a property tax. The school board will make that decision.
