OREGON, Ohio (13abc Action News) - The BP Refinery in Oregon has a "fall simulator." It's designed to examine how people fall and help them to avoid a fall on the rain, snow and ice.
All the jobs at the refinery are outside in the elements so workers go through training at the simulator to learn how to negotiate the snow and ice and avoid injuries.
Three tips to help avoid a fall on the ice:
1. Keep your head up instead of looking down while you walk.
2. Take almost marching like steps, lifting your feet higher off the ground.
3. Keep your posture straight up avoiding distractions like texting and walking.
