Fallen Carroll Township firefighter honored in Maryland
Today the legacy of Daniel Lucius was honored in Maryland.
His family took part in a national ceremony honoring fallen firefighters from around the country.
Lucius was killed this past year while responding to a call. According to reports, he was on duty responding to an emergency call when his vehicle went off the side of the road into a nearly frozen pond.
Lucius did not make it out of the water alive. His family says that he died doing what he loved. He wanted to serve and be a firefighter ever since he was a young boy.
Today, Lucius' mother, godmother and aunt accepted a folded flag and rose in his memory at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
Lucius will also be honored during the Oak Harbor Apple Festival at 1:00pm Sunday, October 13, 2019.
