Former Purdue football coach, Joe Tiller, dead at 74

Purdue University says former football coach, Joe Tiller, has died.

The University make the announcement this morning on Twitter saying:

"We are saddened to report that Joe Tiller has passed away in Buffalo, Wyoming. Condolences to Arnette, Julie, Renee and Mike. RIP."

Tiller led the Boilermakers to the 2000 Big Ten championship and served as coach from 1997 to 2008.

He is considered the winningest coach in Purdue Football history, with only two losing seasons.

ESPN reports that Tiller had been in poor health for several months, although he was hoping to return to Purdue next week for the Minnesota game, where the school will celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tiller's first Boilers team.

Born in Toledo, Tiller graduated from Rogers High School.
