The former Ohio State Trooper who was found guilty on charges of negligent homicide in connection to his son's death has been sentenced in Lucas County Common Pleas court.
Fu Sun was sentenced to two years probation, 50 hours of community service, and must continue counseling and parental classes. He must also be employed and stay away from fire arms.
His son, Evan, found his father's unsecured weapon and accidentally shot himself on Mother's Day.
After the shooting, Toledo Police said the boy's parents drove him to a nearby medical facility in Sylvania, where staff members asked for an ambulance to transfer him to ProMedica Toledo Children's Hospital. The boy was pronounced dead that afternoon.
An autopsy said the child shot himself with his father's unsecured "back-up" weapon.
