46-year old Ben Biery is described by his fellow employees as a "Gentle Giant" who started off at Toledo Hospital as a teen volunteer and worked his way through departments to his last position at the welcome desk of the hospital as the concierge. Regina Mapstone was Biery's supervisor and says "Everybody knew who he was and everybody loved Ben, he was a very nice guy who would give you the last dollar out of his pocket if he could."
That's why neighbors and friends were shocked when Biery was found strangled in his home in the 43-hundred block of Berwick Avenue on March 6th. Police say Biery's wife told them she had come home and found him dead. Toledo Police Lt. Kevan Toney says the investigation into Biery's death continues, "A lot of things are unanswered at this point," says Toney. When asked if neighbors needed to worry about security in the area Toney says "I think there's indications in this case the victim was targeted for some reason." Toney says "We are asking people to be patient and if you know anything, the littlest tip could help point us in the right direction."
