A new sign along a local highway will honor the ultimate sacrifice made by two Toledo firefighters. On Thursday, road markers memorializing James Dickman and Stephen Machcinski will be unveiled.

The stretch of I-75 Northbound, just north of the Nebraska Ave. overpass and Southbound, just South of the Monroe St. overpass, will be dubbed the "Toledo Firefighters James Dickman and Stephan Memorial Highway."

"I'm excited that all of our hard work to memorialize a portion of I-75 in Lucas County after these two firefighters has finally come to fruition," said Ashford. "Renaming a portion of I-75 after these fallen heroes will forever show the unwavering support for the families and the Toledo community."

Dickman and Machcinski were killed battling a fire on Magnolia St. that investigators determined was intentionally set in 2014.

Ray Abou-Arab was sentenced to 20 years in prison on two involuntary manslaughter charges and two aggravated arson charges for the deaths of the two Toledo firefighters.
