Hollywood rolls into Tecumseh
Actors of what will be an internationally released film are in Tecumseh this month filming.
The small town says the news is bringing excitement and a boost in business.
The movie is an action/drama called "Just Another Dream." The movie is about an 8-year-old girl who deals with an injury early in life, causing her to dream of things to come. When she is a teenager she tries to stop a serious crime from happening but no one believes the dream is becoming a reality.
Part of the movie is filming in Tecumseh. Production teams are spending 3 days this month in the small town, shooting multiple scenes.
The city's economic development director, Jessica Sattler, says the news is exciting and it is bringing people who are curious about Hollywood out to catch a sneak peak.
The production team is also boosting business. The owner of Musgrove & Co., a local coffee shop, says sales increased by 25% on Sunday during the first day of filming.
The writer of the screenplay and producer of the film, Jennifer Nichole Lee, grew up in downriver Detroit, has lived in Toledo and still has family in Tecumseh. She says that filming in a space that she considers a piece of home is a dream come true.
Filming continues throughout the fall and early winter throughout Michigan. The film, starring Kristy Swanson and Dean Cain, should be released sometime in the Spring.
Nichole Lee says plans are already in the works for a screening in Royal Oak and Tecumseh as a thank you to residents.
