ROSSFORD, Ohio (WTVG) - Officers want drivers to know the rules of the law when it comes to passing school buses. They're calling it "Operation: Big Bird."
Perrysburg, Rossford, and Lake Police Departments worked with the Ohio State Highway Patrol to shadow school buses, and stop drivers who violated safety laws.
FInes for drivers who pass a school bus when it's lights are red can receive fines up to $300, and must stand before a judge in court.
Operation Big Bird will run multiple times throghout the school year in an effort to continue to keep kids safe on school buses.
